Midweek Thoughts from Pastor Bob

January 27, 2012 by robertcblinn

Hallelujah moments:  1) home after a fine mission trip to Anse d’ Galets on Ile de la Gonave, Haiti; 2) Mike Pond carrying me up and back from Northern VA, and his strong presence on our mission team to Haiti; 3) good reports about worship Jan. 22 as led by J. B. Brown and Rev. Connie Gibbs Morris, with 67 present; 4) healing so far for Sonny Warren; and 5) Prince George County Memorial Service for Holman Britt Jan. 24.

In our prayers for healing:  Sonny Warren.  For comfort, the family of Howard E. Briggs (Mary Kathryn Britt’s brother-in-law).  For care and guidance, public school students in all grades as testing begins, and safe time at home early.

Celebrate the healing ministry of our Lord Jesus in worship this Sunday.  Read the Scripture lesson in Mark 1:21-28.  Prayers, anointing with oil and laying on of hands will be offered.

Fifth Sunday Fellowship Dinner after worship this Sunday, with the church providing meat.  Others may bring veggies, fruit, salad or dessert.  Stories from Haiti from me and Mike.  Thank you for your prayers!  We saw them answered.

Whomever you are rooting for on February 5, stay for “Souper Bowl Lunch” after worship, sponsored by our Youth.  Donations for the Food Bank.

All United Methodist Women (including me!) will gather after the soup lunch on Feb. 5 for a program on Prayer and Self-Denial.

Join me on Sunday evening as adult students are inspired by the Revelation to John.  Meet in the Bible Class off the sanctuary, 6:30-7:45.  Read Revelation 4 and 5 for this week.

Ushers in January:  John Kines, Joe Simmons, Bill Young and Joe Smith.  Greeters:  Theresa and Jacqui Simmons.  Counters for January:  Phyllis Warren and Carol Moody.  Rollaway Club in January:  Jerry Moody.

Nursery staff on January 29:  10 am, Sandy Bailey; 11 am, Julie Brockwell and Lori O’Kennon.

Send news and prayer updates to robert.blinn@trinitydisputanta.org.  See you on Sunday!

    • Attention to Spiritual Practice
Today’s Reflection I AM AFFLICTED with the cultural plague of busy-ness. Trying to find time each day to write, walk, meditate, or make art and work makes it painfully obvious how busy I am. While I would not call myself a workaholic, I do tend to keep moving and I keep busy. Spirituality is the [...]
