Website updates…

In the upcoming weeks I will be updating Trinity’s website.  Please feel free to contact me with things that you see need to be updated, items I may have missed,  or anything that you would like posted on the website.  Please email me at tsimm51415@aol.com.

I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Theresa Simmons

I am posting the letter that Pastor Bob wrote to the congregation.  I want to make sure that all Trinity members and friends of Trinity have had an opportunity to read his message to all of us.

In a letter dated, October 16, 2013, Pastor Bob wrote the following:

October 16, 2013

Dear Trinity Church Family,

I write this with a heavy heart.  You have meant so much to me over the past three and a half years.  We have experienced the Risen Christ together, grown together, served together, celebrated milestones together, laughed and cried together, and, in the past few weeks, struggled together.  Thank you for your prayers, cards and other signs of love for me and for Mary Beth.  Mary Beth sends her greetings.  She has been buoyed up by your prayers.  She has been a constant source of strength for me in these troubled times.

I feel led to seek reconciliation rather than a court contest, either church-based or secular.  I have therefore asked to be retired from the active ministry, effective November 1, 2013.  This means that I will not be returning as your pastor.  Over the next two weeks, I will care for some final final administrative matters and move out of the church office.  I will be available to help in the transition for your new pastor.  I will not be available to do funerals or to assist in weddings.  I will refer all requests for pastoral care to your new pastor or those who serve in the interim.

I do not blame those who supervise my ministry, Bishop Cho or Superintendent Colwell, nor those who have identified shortcomings in my ministry.  Neither should you.  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.  Nourish your spirits with Holy Scripture.  Encourage one another.  As you pray for me, pray for God’s will to be done.  Lift Trinity Church, the James River District, and the Virginia Annual Conference in your prayers.  Pray for its leaders.  Pray for all who been affected by this situation.  We are all saved by the mercy of Christ and held in God’s loving arms.

The Lord has blessed Trinity Church with strong lay leadership.  Increased worship attendance, professions of faith, strong ministries with children, youth, women and men, mission-based financial giving and a vision for expanded facilities are all signs of this blessing.  I trust that with God’s help, they will continue.

Mary Beth is planning a retirement celebration.  We will invite you to the party!  The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you (2 Corinthians 13:13).

Peace,

Pastor Bob Blinn
